Carrie A. Klein, MAcOM, L.Ac.

I co-founded the Alberta Street Acupuncture Clinic with the vision of providing high quality, affordable and accessible acupuncture in a tranquil environment. I have provided over 15,000 treatments in private practice and many more in public health settings. When appropriate, I work collaboratively with colleagues in several medical specialties to provide the best possible treatment for clients.

It is my philosophy to work with each individual to address specific symptoms, but most importantly, to promote overall physical and emotional health, vitality and wellbeing.

I have extensive experience in both acupuncture and Chinese herbalism and nutrition. This includes treating musculoskeletal pain and injury, sleep disorders, anxiety and depression, GI disorders, dermatological issues, and women's health issues, including morning sickness, PMS and menopause. I also treat men and women to enhance fertility and conception, including acupuncture used in conjunction with IVF procedures.

In public health, I have provided acupuncture to underserved and homeless clients at an outpatient alcohol and drug treatment facility, Portland Alternative Health Center/Central City Concern Recovery Center; acupuncture at Hooper Memorial Detoxification Center; Old Town Health Clinic and at Washington County Corrections. I worked for Project Quest Integrative Health program, providing acupuncture to clients with HIV/AIDS and Hep C.

In the field of acupuncture and mental health, I worked for the Community Engagement (CEP) project, treating outpatient mental health clients in a group setting. I was the lead acupuncturist for an integrative program between Central City Concern and Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare, where I collaborated with a Nurse Practitioner and a Medical Assistant on-site in transitional housing for individuals dealing with chronic mental illness and homelessness.

I am an Oregon Board of Medical Examiners approved Clinical Supervisor, at Hooper Memorial Detoxification Center, for Masters Degree student interns from National College of Natural Medicine and the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

I am certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine; am a certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist via the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association; and am licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners. I am currently pursuing advanced studies in several medical specialties of classical medicine and their application in contemporary medical practice, including classical Chinese Meridian/Channel Therapy and obstetrics and gynecology.
